The Arts

Spot Installation:

During my time with Room 8 at North East Valley Normal School, we had 2 art lessons. The first was our spot installation, where we looked at the model artist Yayoi Kusama and then created a class spot installation with balloons and permanent markers. It brightened up a whole corner of the classroom.

The PowerPoint created and used to enhance learning. I also had a selection of pictures and books for the students to look through.

Observational Drawing:

With my Year 5 & 6 students at George Street, we read a book together to spark inspiration for observational drawings.

This book contained lovely drawings of New Zealand bush, flora and fauna.  The first day I brought in ferns, birds nests, eggs, flowers and feathers to place of the desks for the students to choose aspects of to draw.  The second day, we ventured outside the classroom to find natural objects to draw in the bush environment next to the school.  The students collaborated their drawings to make an amazing collage.
